Doğan explains: my life in hairdressing

My name is Doğan Gün, and hairdressing has been an indispensable part of my life for nearly 40 years. My passion for this profession has only grown over time, fuelled by a love for creative freedom, a desire to help people feel their absolute best, and an unwavering commitment to delivering a look that perfectly suits each individual client.

Among the various facets of my work, hair colouring, cutting and styling, including updos and intricate hair designs, hold a special place for me. I find immense joy in the creative process: transforming a look, bringing an idea to life, and seeing the happiness on a client’s face when they look in the mirror at the final result. That is one of the most rewarding parts of being a hairdresser.

I have always believed that we offer people more than beautiful hair. We give them self-confidence, a way to express themselves, and happiness. Knowing that a client leaves the salon feeling wonderful, looking their best and in their best state of mind, is deeply meaningful to me. The connection I build with people is a main reason I have stayed so dedicated to my craft all these years.

In this industry, standing still is not an option. Trends evolve, techniques advance, and new innovations appear around the world all the time. I enjoy keeping pace with these changes, exploring fresh ideas and embracing new developments. For me, learning is a lifelong journey. There is always something new to discover, refine and share.

Working in high-end salons has strengthened my belief in the importance of excellence. In a first-class salon experience, every detail is handled with the utmost attention: the quality of the products we use, the expertise of our team, our aesthetic vision, and the consultation and care we provide. Excellence is not only about the final result. It is woven into the whole experience we create. I joined George Vallossian three years ago.
