The perfect technique for introducing natural colour to your hair.
Have one of our stylists transform your hair with Balayage.

What is balayage?

Coming from the French word “balayer” - which means to sweep - balayage is a specialist hair colouring technique similar to Ombre. Unlike other hair colouring techniques, with balayage, highlights are swept onto the surface of sections of hair. A lightener is painted on, becoming more dense it moves down each section of hair. The resulting effect is a natural, sun-kissed glow. Balayage gives your hair natural depth, blending seamlessly into your natural colour, and works with all hair lengths.

  • As balayage involves lightly hand-painting the surface of the hair, it depends on how many highlights you are opting for to determine how long Balayage takes. A partial Balayage can take between 45 and 90 minutes whereas a layered balayage can take up to three hours on average to finish. Since Balayage is customised and applied by hand, the amount of time can vary greatly. For example, Balayage for longer and thicker hair will take longer.

  • Balayage hair can last up to four months with proper care and the correct hair products used. The benefit of Balayage is that you aren’t left with visible roots once your natural colour starts to grow through. Balayage was designed to seamlessly blend into your hair so that it looks utterly natural. That said, it’ll grow out just as quickly as any other colour would.

  • A Balayage involves lightening certain sections of your hair and the effect is permanent, although the colour might fade slightly after a few months if not looked after properly. To extend the life of your colour, our advice is to wash your balayage hair sparingly. Try reducing your washes to two or three times per week and use a dry shampoo in between washes if needed.
